Warranty and claims

What the warranty on a part covers, what it does not, and what happens if you need to claim.

What is covered

The warranty on these parts is the manufacturer's, not ours. New and remanufactured parts are warranted against defects in material and workmanship for 12 months from the date of sale. We supply the part and we run the claim for you, but the decision is the manufacturer's.

Period
12 months from the date of sale
Given by
The part's manufacturer
Covers
Defects in material or workmanship
If upheld
A replacement part, or a refund of what you paid for the part
Decided by
The manufacturer's inspection of the failed part

A replacement supplied under warranty carries the remainder of the original 12 months, not a fresh period.

This warranty sits alongside your statutory rights and does not replace them. If you are buying as a consumer rather than for a business, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you rights against us as the seller that no warranty wording can remove.

What is not covered

The warranty covers a defect in the part. It does not cover a part that failed for some other reason. The manufacturer's terms exclude:

  • normal wear and tear
  • installation or use the manufacturer judges improper
  • failures caused by other parts, or by fuel, oil, coolant or lubricants the manufacturer has not approved
  • abuse, neglect, or improper storage or repair
  • unauthorised repair, adjustment or fuel setting changes
  • delay in making the part available once a problem is known

It also does not cover the labour to remove and refit the part, or any other loss the failure causes you: downtime, hire, recovery, lost contracts, or damage to other parts of the engine or machine. Our liability is set out below.

What happens when you make a claim

The manufacturer inspects the part, and their judgement decides the claim. We do not make that decision and we cannot overturn it.

  1. 1You tell us, and we send you a warranty return claim form.
  2. 2You send the part to us with the form completed.
  3. 3We send the part to the manufacturer for inspection.
  4. 4The manufacturer inspects it and reports on what failed and why.
  5. 5We act on their judgement and tell you the outcome.

If the claim is upheld, you get a replacement part or a refund of the part price, and we refund what you paid to send it to us. The failed part becomes the manufacturer's.

The part stays yours

Whether or not the claim succeeds, you can have it back. What we cannot promise is the condition it comes back in: finding out why something failed often means dismantling it, and it is not always reassembled afterwards. If the part is still serviceable, that is worth weighing before you send it in.

Our liability

If a part we supplied is defective, our liability is to replace it or to refund what you paid for it.

We are not liable for any other loss arising from the failure, including downtime, hire, recovery, wasted labour, lost work or contracts, or damage to other parts of the engine or machine, except where the law does not allow us to exclude that liability.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. If you buy as a consumer, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected.
