Questions

How we sell, what the parts are, how long they take and what happens when something goes wrong.

Buying from us

Can I buy a part on this website?

No. The basket here is a quotation basket: what you add reaches a person, who prices it and comes back to you. Nothing is charged and no order is placed by adding to it.

Why does a part say "On quotation" instead of a price?

Because what a part costs depends on the order โ€” what you need, where it is going and how soon. We would rather quote you than publish a figure that is wrong by the time you read it.

How do I get a price?

Send us the part number. WhatsApp is the quickest way, and the contact form works just as well. If you do not have a part number, tell us the engine and what has failed.

Do I need an account?

No. There are no accounts on this site and nothing to sign up for.

The parts

Are the parts genuine?

We supply genuine and manufacturer-remanufactured parts, bought through authorised distributor channels. We do not supply pattern or copy parts.

Are you a Caterpillar dealer?

No. We are an independent distributor: not owned by, acting for, or authorised by any manufacturer. Naming a brand on this site tells you what a part fits, nothing more.

What is the difference between new genuine and remanufactured?

A remanufactured unit is rebuilt by the manufacturer to its own published standard, not by us and not by a third party. It usually costs less than new, and it usually carries a core deposit. What it is covered for is set out under warranty and claims.

What is a core deposit?

A remanufactured part is built from an old unit, so your old one is worth money. Exchange pricing is lower and expects that unit back; outright pricing does not. Send the old unit back within 30 days of delivery and the deposit is refunded in full โ€” see shipping and returns.

Which engines do you cover?

Caterpillar diesel engines: marine, plant and industrial. Send a part number if you have one, or the engine serial number if you do not.

Stock and lead times

Do you hold stock?

No, and we would rather say so plainly. These parts fail at random, so nothing sensibly sits on a shelf. Every order is bought in from our supplier when you place it.

So how long will it take?

We confirm a lead time on enquiry. It is our best estimate of when the part is ready to dispatch, not when it lands with you, so add the transit time on top. If the date moves, we tell you.

Getting it to you

Do you ship outside the UK?

Yes. Terms are ex works, so shipping, insurance, duties and taxes are yours from the point of dispatch, and a destination country may charge duty and import VAT we cannot quote in advance. shipping and returns has the detail.

Can you ship on my own courier account?

Yes, billed to you. Tell us the account when you order.

Can I send something back?

Within 30 days of delivery, if it is unused and complete with its original packaging. Made-to-order items are the exception. The conditions are under shipping and returns.

What happens if a part fails?

That is a warranty claim rather than a return, and it works differently: the part is inspected by the manufacturer and their judgement decides it. warranty and claims sets out each step and what to expect.

Talking to us

Am I talking to a person or to a bot?

On WhatsApp an automated assistant takes your details down first, and then a named member of our team replies. Every reply says who it is from.

Will you message me first, or add me to a mailing list?

No. You write to us and we reply. We do not run a marketing list and we do not sell your details to anyone.

Something here contradicts something else. Which wins?

Tell us, because that is a mistake we want to fix. Formally, the terms and conditions govern.
