Privacy
What we collect, what we use it for, who else handles it, and how to get a copy or have it deleted.
What we collect
Only what an enquiry or an order needs. We do not build a profile of you and we do not track you around the internet.
- If you message us
- Your name, your WhatsApp number, and what you send โ messages, photographs, documents
- If you order
- Name, contact details, delivery address, payment details, order history
- Either way
- The quotations and reference numbers we give you
What we use it for
Answering your enquiry, preparing your quotation, fulfilling your order, taking payment, and talking to you about it. Nothing else.
We do not sell your data. We do not add you to a marketing list. We do not message you first โ you write to us, and we reply.
On WhatsApp an automated assistant takes your details down first, and then a named member of our team replies. Every reply says who it is from.
The lawful bases we rely on are performing a contract with you, your consent, and our legitimate interest in running the business.
Who else handles it
A message or an order passes through other companies to reach us and to be dealt with. These are the ones that see it:
- Framer
- Hosts this website
- Shopify
- The parts catalogue and the basket
- Twilio and WhatsApp (Meta)
- Carry your WhatsApp messages to us
- Anthropic
- An assistant reads your message to draft a reply
- DigitalOcean, London
- Our own servers, where it is stored
- The sheet your quotation is tracked in
- PayPal and Fiserv
- Take your payment
They process it for us and under contract, not for their own purposes. Carriers are given the name and delivery address they need to deliver your parcel. Beyond that we disclose your data only where the law requires it of us.
How long we keep it
WhatsApp conversations are kept for two years after your last message and then deleted.
Order records are kept for six years after the end of the financial year they fall in, which is what UK tax law requires of us, and no longer.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or erase it, restrict or object to how we use it, ask for it in a portable form, or withdraw consent.
On WhatsApp you can do it yourself, straight away
Reply "my data" for a copy of everything we hold about you, "delete me" to have it erased, "stop" to hear nothing more from us, or "help" for the full list.
Otherwise use the contact form and we will deal with it.
Keeping it safe
Data is held on servers in London, encrypted in transit, and reachable only by the people who need it to do the job.
If a breach is likely to put anyone's rights at risk we notify the Information Commissioner's Office within 72 hours and tell the people affected without undue delay.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, tell us first and we will try to put it right. You can also complain to the ICO.
Cookies
A banner asks you about this the first time you arrive, and your answer is remembered so you are not asked again.
- Essential
- What the site needs to work, including your answer to the banner
- Your basket
- Held in your own browser, not on our servers
- Google Analytics
- Counts visits and which pages get read
Analytics tells us how the site is used, not who you are. We run no advertising or retargeting cookies and we do not follow you to other sites.
If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and nothing about your visit is stored. You can change your answer whenever you like.
Other sites
Where we link to another company's site, what they do with your data is theirs to explain, not ours. Read their notice before you give them anything.
Changes
If we change how we handle your data we update this page, and the date below changes with it.
